A mind map is like a flow chart. Students can use it to take notes, or analyze and structure information to identify relationships between key points. It begins with a central image and branches out with many subtopics. Mind mapping connects both sides of the brain: the logical left brain; and the multi-dimensional, imaginative right brain. iMindMap is a mind mapping Web 2.0 tool from Tony Buzan the originator of mind mapping. I created the a mind map above to connect objectives to activities and assessments for a course I plan to teach. This course is based on a workshop for teachers that I facilitated, Brain Compatible Teaching to Engage Student Learning in the 21st Century.
