My Personal Learning Network

The last few years I have expanded my personal learning network. I enjoy sharing ideas and links with others on Twitter, LinkedIn and Diigo. My favorite thing to do is curate my four Scoop.it magazines. It's a great way to exchange articles and share news, that I discover on my RSS feeds, with others. I keep in touch with colleagues and fellow classmates via email and am involved with a few different professional organizations. Key to my professional network is contact with mentors. There are couple of mentors who I look up to and can count on when I need feedback about a professional matter. I am currently exploring blogging. I think it's a great reflective tool. Blogger is my favorite. I'm also experimenting with Paper.li, which I don't like, and Second Life. This program intrigues me because I am very interested in simulations and gaming. However, I'm having a hard time using it on my computer and don't have much time to figure it out.
In the future, I think it'll be important to learn more about Ning. It seems like there are lots of Ning groups for educators. I might want to create a Ning group for the professional group I founded, The Chicago Area Brain Network. Quite honestly, I don't want to add too many new tools to my PLN because it's challenging to manage the resources I have. The key to networking is engagement. If there are too many tools and resources, I won't have the time to properly engage with all of them. That is why I feel like I'm near my limit. I did add a question mark to my PLN because I'm sure in the future a tool will come along that will knock my socks off, and I'll want to use.
I chose to represent my PLN in this graphical way because I wanted to create something using visuals. Also, I wanted to try something new. My learning partner and I were discussing Popplet and I thought now would be a good time to experiment.
